Brights Hardware is looking for a dedicated General Assistant to join the Yard Department in Brackenfell. If you have experience in stock handling, customer service, and yard maintenance, this is your opportunity to be part of a leading hardware retail company.
Key Responsibilities
✔ Efficient Loading & Unloading – Load customer vehicles, delivery trucks, and transfer trucks accurately and promptly
✔ Stock Handling & Management – Stack and count stock properly, ensuring accuracy
✔ Stock Transfers – Assist in pulling stock for transfers between branches
✔ Inventory Control – Report stock shortages and breakages immediately
✔ Housekeeping & Safety – Maintain cleanliness in the yard and ensure a safe working environment
✔ Customer Service – Assist customers with product knowledge and provide excellent service
✔ Material Handling – Bagging of stone, sand, and other yard products
✔ Stocktaking – Participate in perpetual stocktakes to ensure accurate inventory records
✔ General Yard Duties – Perform any additional tasks assigned by your superior
Minimum Requirements
✔ Matric Certificate (or equivalent) OR x3 completed Intercept courses (120 credits minimum)
✔ 1+ year of experience in a similar role (yard assistant, stock handler, or warehouse worker)
✔ Brights Induction (Service Excellence Training) – Advantageous
✔ Good numerical skills – Ability to count stock accurately
✔ Strong communication skills – Able to interact professionally with customers and colleagues
✔ Physical fitness & stamina – Ability to handle physically demanding tasks
✔ Self-motivated & disciplined – Able to work independently and as part of a team
✔ Ability to handle pressure in a fast-paced retail environment
