Empact Group is looking for a skilled Assistant Catering Manager to assist in overseeing the daily operations of a high-volume kitchen environment. The role involves managing food service operations, controlling costs, ensuring food safety, and contributing to overall kitchen efficiency. Key Responsibilities
✔ Daily Operations – Assist with the smooth running of the kitchen and production processes
✔ Cost Control – Manage food and labor costs, working within budget guidelines to deliver results
✔ HACCP Compliance – Ensure adherence to food safety standards and procedures
✔ Menu Development – Assist in creating and planning menus for high-volume services
✔ Team Management – Lead and manage kitchen staff, ensuring high performance and cooperation
✔ Strategic Operations Management – Support day-to-day and strategic kitchen management functions
✔ Special Diets Knowledge – Ensure menu offerings meet dietary requirements for health conditions
Minimum Requirements
✔ Tertiary qualification in Food & Beverage Services or Culinary Arts – Compulsory
✔ 3+ years of progressive kitchen management experience – Required
✔ Experience working within budget guidelines – Essential
✔ High-volume food service operations experience – Desirable
✔ Hospital experience – Advantageous
✔ Knowledge of HSE (Health, Safety & Environmental) – Advantageous
✔ Special diets knowledge – Compulsory
✔ Healthcare experience – Required
✔ Strong knowledge of South African and industry-specific regulations
