Position Overview

Hire Resolve is currently recruiting for an experienced Diesel Mechanic to join a reputable mining company in Gauteng on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

This role is ideal for qualified artisans seeking diesel mechanic jobs in mining, contract mechanical roles, or heavy equipment maintenance positions with competitive remuneration.

Purpose of the Role

The Diesel Mechanic will be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing diesel-powered vehicles and heavy mining equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant operation in line with health and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical faults on diesel vehicles and heavy mining equipment
Perform preventative, planned, and breakdown maintenance on engines, transmissions, braking systems, and related components
Conduct quality checks to ensure equipment reliability and compliance with safety standards
Maintain accurate maintenance records and job documentation using relevant systems
Ensure a safe, clean, and compliant working environment at all times
Provide standby and breakdown support as operationally required

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

Grade 12 (Matric)
Diesel Mechanic Trade Test Certificate
Engineering Studies qualification (N3 / N4)

Experience

3–5 years’ experience as a Diesel Mechanic
Advanced knowledge of modern vehicle electrical systems
Experience working with MANN truck brands
Valid driver’s license

Skills and Competencies

Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
Ability to work independently in high-pressure environments
High attention to detail and safety compliance
Good record-keeping and reporting skills
Physical fitness suitable for mining environments

Remuneration and Benefits

Salary: R250,000 – R300,000 per annum
Paid Time Off (PTO) – where applicable
