Position Overview

The NOC Operator (Fixed-Term Contract) will be responsible for proactive surveillance, monitoring, and management of network and technical systems to ensure minimal downtime across sites. The role focuses on alarm monitoring, fault diagnosis, escalation management, ticket lifecycle control, and coordination with field teams and stakeholders.

This position is ideal for a technically strong, analytical, and detail-oriented professional with experience in NOC, service desk, or telecommunications operations.

Key Responsibilities

Network Monitoring & Fault Management

  • Proactively monitor technical systems to identify and address alarms timeously
  • Analyse alarms, categories, and network elements to detect faults or potential failures
  • Accurately interpret alarms and determine root causes
  • Prioritise faults based on impact and urgency
  • Perform first-line troubleshooting and remote resolution where possible

Escalation & Ticket Management

  • Log, manage, and hand over failure tickets (e.g. Power as a Service, corrective maintenance, vandalism)
  • Escalate faults within agreed timelines to minimise downtime
  • Dispatch field force intelligently based on fault analysis
  • Manage end-to-end ticket lifecycle, including timeous task dispatching
  • Escalate power failures to relevant stakeholders
  • Maintain continuous updates on task activities

Stakeholder & SLA Management

  • Maintain constant communication with internal and external stakeholders
  • Coordinate and facilitate conference calls where required
  • Ensure adherence to Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
  • Capture, validate, and approve access requests for Mast Services
  • Proactively manage escalations and service outputs

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify trends and potential network risks using analytical tools
  • Contribute to system optimisation and automation-driven process improvements
  • Reduce truck rolls through effective first-time fault resolution

Minimum Requirements

  • Matric (Senior Certificate)
  • N6 qualification in Electrical Engineering
  • Valid South African Driver’s License
  • Proven Service Desk / NOC experience
  • Telecommunications industry experience
  • Ability to work shifts
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • SAP knowledge (advantageous)
