Position Overview
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a qualified Clinic Nurse Practitioner (Clinic Sister) to join its Corporate Clinic in Ceres. This permanent role is responsible for managing and operating a profitable Primary Health Care Clinic located within a pharmacy, in line with the legal scope of practice of a registered nursing practitioner.
The successful candidate will provide comprehensive clinical services, ensure regulatory compliance, manage clinic operations efficiently, and maintain strong relationships with patients, medical aids, and internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform Clinic Sister duties in accordance with healthcare regulations and best practices
- Manage clinic performance, including patient flow (“feet-per-hour”) and service delivery targets
- Ensure all clinic services are available and operational during scheduled hours
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure effective follow-up communication
- Ensure clinic stock, equipment, and supplies are available and in working condition
- Process medical aid claims accurately and timeously
- Monitor clinic performance statistics and contribute to achieving monthly targets
- Build and maintain professional relationships with patients, store management, medical aids, suppliers, and community healthcare stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and professional nursing standards
Minimum Requirements
Essential
- Grade 12 / Matric certificate
- Tertiary qualification in General Nursing
- Degree or Diploma in Midwifery
- Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC)
- BHF registration (or willingness to obtain)
- 2–3 years’ experience as a Primary Health Care Clinic Sister
- Computer literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Advantageous
- 5 or more years’ experience in Primary Health Care
- Experience with Patient Record Systems, CKS, and Allegra

- Community and Primary Health Care Nursing
- Family planning, cytology, IUD procedures
- Pharmacology and EPI / cold chain management
- STD management and emergency care
- HIV/AIDS pre- and post-counselling
- Breastfeeding support and baby wellness
- Pathology interpretation and wound care
- Strong understanding of clinic financial performance and targets
- Analytical skills for monthly statistics and commission tracking
- Emotional intelligence, integrity, and professionalism
- Strong communication skills in English (written and verbal)
- Ability to manage self and clinic operations independently

- Bilingual communication skills
- Baby Immunisation Course (DoH / Sanofi Pasteur)
- Family Planning Course (DoH)
- Primary Health Care, Breastfeeding, and Disease Management courses
