Position Overview

Dis-Chem is seeking a Qualified Clinic Nurse Practitioner to join the Canal Walk Mall team in Century City. This role is responsible for managing and operating a profitable Primary Health Care Clinic within the pharmacy, ensuring exceptional patient care, clinic efficiency, and compliance with regulatory standards.

This position is ideal for candidates passionate about primary healthcare, community nursing, and retail health services.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform Clinic Nurse Practitioner duties according to SANC regulations and industry best practices
  • Manage clinic operations to meet patient care targets and service level objectives
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and follow-up communications
  • Ensure clinic stock and equipment are operational and sufficiently stocked
  • Process claims accurately and timeously in line with industry standards
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with patients, store and dispensary managers, colleagues, medical aids, suppliers, and community stakeholders
  • Monitor clinic statistics and performance, providing analytical insights to optimize operations
  • Ensure the clinic operates according to the set operational hours and retail requirements

Minimum Requirements

Essential:

  • Matric / Grade 12
  • Tertiary qualification in General Nursing
  • Degree or Diploma in Midwifery
  • Registration with South African Nursing Council (SANC)
  • BHF registration for Nursing Practitioner
  • 2–3 years’ experience as a Primary Health Care Clinic Sister
  • Computer literate (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Advantageous:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Primary Health Care Sister
  • Knowledge of Patient Record System, CKS, Allegra

Core Competencies and Skills

  • Knowledge of community health nursing, primary healthcare, family planning, IUD, pharmacology, EPI/cold chain management, STDs, emergency care, HIV/AIDS counseling, breastfeeding, pathology, and wound care
  • Analytical skills with the ability to interpret monthly clinic statistics and commissions
  • Strong command of English (written and spoken); bilingual proficiency advantageous
  • Emotional intelligence, entrepreneurial flair, trustworthy, and honest
  • Ability to manage self and team, with strong time management
  • Understanding of financial implications of meeting or missing targets

  • Willing to work retail hours
  • Physically fit and healthy to manage a Primary Health Care Clinic
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transport
  • South African citizen with clear credit and criminal records
