Position Overview: NOC Operator (Fixed-Term Contract)

BFM is recruiting a NOC Operator (Network Operations Centre Operator) to support mast services and network surveillance operations in Centurion.

The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure network reliability and minimize downtime through proactive monitoring of technical systems, accurate alarm interpretation, and efficient fault escalation processes.

This is a shift-based position requiring strong analytical thinking, technical knowledge, and excellent communication skills.


Key Responsibilities

The NOC Operator will be responsible for:

Network Monitoring & Fault Detection

  • Proactively monitoring technical systems to address alarms promptly
  • Interpreting alarms accurately and identifying root causes
  • Understanding the relationship between various systems and network elements
  • Detecting faults or potential faults before escalation

Fault Management & Escalation

  • Prioritizing faults and alarms based on impact
  • Escalating issues within required timeframes to minimize downtime
  • Logging and managing failure tickets (Power as a Service, Corrective Maintenance, Vandalism, etc.)
  • Conducting first-line troubleshooting and resolving alarms remotely where possible
  • Escalating power failures to relevant responsible parties

Dispatch & Field Coordination

  • Applying intelligent dispatching based on fault analysis
  • Managing end-to-end ticket processes with field teams
  • Coordinating and scheduling tasks timeously
  • Establishing conference calls between customers and stakeholders
  • Reducing unnecessary truck rolls through effective remote fault resolution

SLA & Process Management

  • Ensuring Service Level Agreement adherence
  • Maintaining communication with internal and external stakeholders
  • Managing escalation processes to improve outputs
  • Driving automation-based process improvements
  • Capturing, validating, and approving access requests

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Matric (Senior Certificate)
  • N6 in Electrical Engineering
  • Valid South African Driver’s License
  • Proven Service Desk / NOC experience
  • Telecommunications industry experience
  • Ability to work shifts
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook
  • SAP knowledge
