Position Overview

The Storeman will be responsible for managing and controlling the depot stores at the Cape Town facility. This includes maintaining accurate inventory records, issuing tools and consumables, monitoring stock levels, and supporting workshop operations.

The successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring that tools, equipment, and spare parts are properly controlled and available when required, supporting efficient operations within the container manufacturing workshop.

This role is ideal for individuals with experience in warehouse management, tool inventory control, or storekeeping within technical environments.

Key Responsibilities

Store and Inventory Management

  • Control and manage the Depot Stores at the Cape Town facility
  • Maintain accurate records of tool and consumable inventory
  • Ensure effective stock control and tracking systems

Issuing and Receiving Tools

  • Issue tools and consumables to workshop staff
  • Receive returned tools and ensure proper storage
  • Monitor and maintain tool inventories

Spare Parts and Equipment Management

  • Control Mobile Harbour Crane (MHC) spare parts inventory
  • Maintain adequate consumable stock levels
  • Ensure all inventory is properly recorded and stored

Depot Housekeeping

  • Maintain clean and organised store areas
  • Ensure proper storage and accessibility of tools and equipment
  • Maintain depot store safety standards

Safety and Compliance Support

  • Assist the Safety Representative with tool inspection reports
  • Ensure compliance with safety file requirements

Operational Support

  • Assist with monthly stock counts on container movements
  • Provide support to workshop staff when required
  • Ensure tools and consumables are available for operational tasks

Minimum Requirements
