Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and hands-on Second In Charge to join our Galo Shopping Centre team on a 3-month contract. This role will oversee store operations, guide staff, and ensure a superior customer experience. You will assist in driving sales, maintaining operational standards, and creating an inspiring retail environment for customers and team members alike.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise team members, providing guidance and setting a strong example
  • Develop staff in selling techniques, product knowledge, operational standards, and customer service
  • Ensure the store is adequately staffed according to business needs
  • Create a welcoming and personalised shopping experience for customers
  • Drive sales and turnover by motivating team members to achieve targets
  • Maintain visual merchandising standards to create an attractive store layout
  • Ensure the store is clean, tidy, and fully stocked at all times
  • Manage stock levels, losses, and shrinkage effectively
  • Confirm all products are correctly priced and displayed with relevant signage
  • Monitor stock take and cycle count reports, investigate variances, and escalate issues
  • Oversee point-of-sale and banking procedures
  • Ensure compliance with all store operational standards and company policies
  • Execute daily operational activities efficiently

Minimum Requirements

  • Matric / Grade 12 or equivalent certificate
  • At least 2 years’ experience supervising a small team in a retail environment
  • Passion for cosmetics, retail, and customer service
  • Knowledge of beauty and skincare products
  • Strong customer service orientation and work ethic
  • Hands-on leadership skills with ability to motivate and inspire a team
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and schedule staff effectively
  • Basic proficiency in email and Excel
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and stand for long periods
  • Ability to demonstrate and promote products effectively
