π Job Overview
Rhodes University is recruiting a Deputy Director for the Centre for Social Development (CSD).
The role focuses on leading programmes related to early childhood development, community development, fundraising, and project management while supporting the strategic direction of the centre.
π― Key Responsibilities
π₯ Programme & Staff Management
- Manage staff and development programmes within the centre
- Ensure projects and initiatives are delivered successfully
π Community & Development Work
- Support and oversee early childhood development initiatives
- Lead community development programmes
π° Financial & Fundraising Management
- Manage budgets and financial resources
- Develop fundraising proposals and maintain relationships with funders
π Strategic & Operational Support
- Support the Director of the Centre for Social Development
- Ensure programme goals align with university objectives
π Minimum Requirements
- Honours Degree in a relevant field (Education, Social Development, or Community Development)
- Masterβs Degree (advantageous)
- At least 3 years relevant field experience, including:
β Early childhood or community development work
β Programme and staff management
β Budget and financial management
β Fundraising and proposal development
β At least 3 years supervisory experience at middle management level
β Valid driverβs licence
π‘ Experience working in a non-profit organisation (NGO) is beneficial.
π° Salary & Benefits
- Basic Salary: R805,257 per year
- Cost to Company: approximately R1,040,825 per year
This is a senior leadership role within a university development centre.
