Position Overview
Dis-Chem is currently recruiting a motivated and detail-oriented Merchandiser for its Pinecrest store in Pinetown. This entry-level retail role is ideal for candidates interested in store merchandising, stock control, and retail operations.
The successful candidate will ensure that all products are correctly displayed, stocked, and maintained according to Dis-Chem’s merchandising standards, while delivering excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
Merchandising & Stock Control
- Restock shelves to ensure maximum product availability and sales
- Ensure all stock is correctly stored and displayed on shelves
- Monitor and remove expired or damaged products
- Implement FIFO (First-In, First-Out) stock rotation
Store Presentation
- Maintain clean, organised, and visually appealing product displays
- Ensure shelves are fully stocked, labelled, and priced correctly
- Build and maintain merchandising displays according to planograms
Inventory & Stock Management
- Assist with stocktaking and inventory counts
- Report low stock, out-of-stock items, and discrepancies
- Assist with loading and off-loading deliveries
Customer Service
- Provide friendly and helpful assistance to customers
- Resolve stock-related queries and follow up on customer requests
Compliance & Operations
- Follow Dis-Chem’s SOPs, health and safety regulations, and store policies
- Ensure correct uniform and badge are worn at all times
- Minimise losses by handling stock carefully and reporting suspicious activity
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric Certificate
- Up to 6 months retail experience
- Computer literacy (MS Office)
- Willingness to work retail hours (including weekends and holidays)
Advantageous Skills
- At least 1 year retail experience
- Knowledge of merchandising standards and FMCG products
- Bilingual communication skills
- Ability to analyse stock and reports (e.g., ZMORE reports)
