Position Overview: Post Basic Qualified Pharmacist Assistant Job in Lintons Corner
Dis-Chem is seeking a Post Basic Qualified Pharmacist Assistant for their Lintons Corner store. This role is a fixed-term contract focusing on pharmaceutical care, accurate prescription processing, stock management, and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the sale and distribution of Schedule 1–5 medicines
- Support compounding, manipulation, or preparation of non-sterile medicines under pharmacist supervision
- Assist with re-packaging, ordering, and control of pharmaceutical stock
- Process prescriptions accurately and verify patient details
- Provide clear instructions and health guidance to customers
- Advise and assist patients at the dispensary, self-medication, and front-shop areas
- Process claims and paperwork for medical aids accurately
- Track chronic, HIV/AIDS, and oncology medication authorisations
- Maintain customer profiles, merge duplicate profiles, and monitor messages on profiles
- Facilitate bi-annual stock takes and maintain stock, cash, and asset control
- Report low/out-of-stock levels and discrepancies to the dispensary manager
- Ensure all medications are checked and signed off by the pharmacist
- Keep updated with medical aid procedures, product knowledge, and dispensing policies
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Basic Pharmacist Assistant qualification
- Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)
- Experience working on Unisolv
- Computer literate (MS Office)
- Sound numerical skills
- Strong command of English and a second language
- Willing and able to work retail hours
Advantageous:
- Knowledge of Retail / FMCG operations
- Third additional language
- Experience with SAP and E-Scripting
- Knowledge of drug, family planning, and complementary medicine
