Position Overview
The Part-Time Lecturer (Foundation and Intermediate Phase: Psychology for Educators) role is ideal for passionate academic professionals who want to shape future educators. Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Academic Delivery
- Deliver lectures, tutorials, and student support workshops
- Prepare, facilitate, and assess academic content
- Ensure academic standards and conventions are maintained
- Support Programme Coordinators with teaching delivery
Student Support & Development
- Provide academic guidance and consultation to students
- Assist with teaching and learning capacity development
- Collaborate with library staff to enhance information literacy
Academic Administration & Collaboration
- Participate in faculty meetings and lecturer forums
- Assist with curriculum development and academic planning
- Maintain accurate records and meet academic deadlines
Research & Development
- Contribute to academic research and knowledge development
- Support ongoing innovation in teaching and learning practices
Minimum Requirements
- Honour’s Degree in Psychology OR
- BEd Honours Degree OR
- Honours Degree in Humanities / Social Sciences OR
- Postgraduate Diploma (NQF Level 8) in Education or related field
AND:
- Undergraduate qualification must include Psychology as a major (up to 3rd year level)
Experience Required
- Teaching experience in Psychology or related subjects
- Experience in counselling or academic support (advantageous)
- Familiarity with higher education teaching environments

- Strong knowledge of South African higher education systems
- Understanding of teaching and learning theories
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Strong administrative and organisational abilities

Working Hours
- Classes scheduled between 08:00 – 17:00 (Monday to Friday)
