Position Overview
The FTC Relief Teacher for Mathematics (Grades 8–9) and Mathematical Literacy (Grade 11) will deliver engaging and inspiring education aligned with ADvTECH’s academic strategy. This role ensures students are motivated, challenged, and prepared for life beyond school, while upholding professional standards and fostering strong relationships with colleagues, parents, and the wider school community.
Key Responsibilities
Academic Delivery
- Plan, organise, and implement instructional programs in the FET phase
- Deliver future-focused lessons that inspire and challenge students
- Provide differentiated learning and individual support where required
Academic Assessment & Reporting
- Assess student progress and performance in line with IEB or FET standards
- Maintain accurate and timely records of academic achievement
- Provide constructive feedback to students, parents, and academic staff
Student Behaviour Management
- Manage classroom behaviour in a professional and constructive manner
- Promote personal, social, and emotional development of students
School Brand Ambassadorship
- Represent Abbotts High School and the ADvTECH brand positively
- Participate in school events and extra-curricular activities
Administration & Health & Safety
- Maintain accurate records and documentation
- Apply first aid and ensure a safe learning environment
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications:
- Degree (NQF Level 7) and PGCE or B.Ed. (FET) in Mathematics/Mathematical Literacy
- SACE certification and valid police clearance
Experience:
- 2–5 years teaching experience
- 2–5 years specialist subject teaching
- Computer and digital literacy
- First Aid qualification
