Position Overview
The Lecturer – Accounting is responsible for teaching allocated modules, engaging students, tracking module progress, and supporting academic administration. The role involves developing assessments, monitoring at-risk students, supporting programme coordinators, and contributing to research or professional development activities.
The lecturer ensures that students receive a high-quality learning experience aligned with Rosebank College’s academic standards.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Academic Delivery
- Deliver lectures and engage students based on module-specific requirements
- Develop and design teaching-learning materials aligned with module outcomes
- Prepare students for assessments and monitor engagement and submission
- Provide feedback and academic support to students
Academic Administration
- Update Learning Management System (LMS) records
- Track module pacers and analyse student performance
- Assist Programme Coordinator with results analysis and identification of at-risk modules
- Support part-time lecturers with faculty requirements
- Assist with student registration and orientation
Research & Professional Development
- Conduct scholarly, discipline-based or SOTL research
- Deliver research outputs in line with institutional targets
- Participate in academic professional development interventions to improve teaching and learning
Collaboration & Compliance
- Attend and participate in academic meetings across faculties
- Manage resources, including academic materials and liaising with the Information Centre
- Adhere to institutional rules, regulations, and deadlines
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications:
- Honours degree in Accounting (NQF Level 8)
- PGDHE or PGCE (advantageous)
Experience:
- 1–3 years industry-specific experience in Accounting or related field
- Minimum 3 years lecturing experience
Core Competencies:
- Knowledge of South African higher education systems and regulatory frameworks
- Understanding of teaching and learning theories and interventions
- Ability to provide student support services
- Digital literacy and experience with online academic platforms
- Adaptable to evolving teaching environments
- Time management and deadline-orientation
Working Hours:
- Classes scheduled 08:00 – 17:00, Monday to Friday
