Position Overview: SHE Officer (Safety, Health & Environment)

CBRE Excellerate is seeking a qualified SHE Officer in Lagos to ensure that facilities operate in a safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible manner.

Key Responsibilities

Health & Safety Compliance

  • Develop and implement safety policies and procedures aligned with regulations
  • Ensure compliance with industry safety standards and environmental guidelines
  • Monitor safe handling and storage of hazardous chemicals

Inspections & Audits

  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of facilities and equipment
  • Identify risks and implement corrective actions

Training & Awareness

  • Develop and maintain emergency response plans

Incident Management

  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses
  • Identify root causes and implement preventive measures

Reporting & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate records of:
    • Safety inspections
    • Training sessions
    • Incident reports
  • Track and report safety performance metrics

Continuous Improvement

  • Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams
  • Implement risk mitigation and safety improvement strategies

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in:
    • Occupational Health & Safety
    • Environmental Science
    • Engineering or related field
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a safety or SHE role

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications such as:
    • NEBOSH
    • IOSH

Essential Skills & Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of:
    • Health & Safety regulations
    • Environmental compliance standards
    • Hazardous material handling
  • Excellent communication and training skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to conduct audits and risk assessments
  • Good command of English (written and verbal)
