About the Role
The Code 8 Driver in the Wholesale Department plays an essential role in driving wholesale client satisfaction and smooth stock transfers across Brights Hardware branches. Working out of the Boston/Bellville operations, you will oversee pre-trip vehicle checks, verify loaded inventory against delivery notes, execute daily drop-off schedules, and secure signed transfer logs and Proof of Delivery (POD) documents.
This position requires a dependable driver with a valid Code 8 Driver’s License, a valid PDP (Goods & Passengers), driving experience, and a strong commitment to road safety, vehicle maintenance, and client service.
Important Hiring Requirements: Candidates should ideally possess a Matric Certificate or Equivalent. Applicants without a Matric certificate who hold a valid driver’s license and have at least 3 years of driving experience will also be considered. A valid Code 8 Driver’s License (higher code is an advantage) and a valid PDP (Public Driving Permit: Goods and Passengers) are strictly required, alongside a minimum of 1 year of driving experience.
Delivery Execution & Route Efficiency

Plan the most time- and fuel-efficient routes to ensure wholesale customer orders arrive punctually and in pristine condition.

Verify that all outgoing wholesale stock is accompanied by valid delivery notes and paperwork prior to loading.

Oversee loading and offloading procedures, ensuring load stability and safe transport of hardware goods.

Ensure assigned truck assistants remain with the delivery vehicle throughout all trip schedules.

Participate actively in perpetual stock counts and execute additional operational tasks assigned by supervisors.

Submit weekly evaluation reports, branch delay notices, and daily end-of-shift reports to the Dispatch Supervisor.

Vehicle Maintenance & Safety Checks
