Purpose of the Role:

To ensure the effective and efficient operation of the plant by monitoring, maintaining, and repairing all plant services.


Requirements:

  • Education:
    • Matric.
    • National Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
    • Millwright Trade Test Certificate.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 5 years of maintenance experience in service equipment.
  • Skills and Knowledge:
    • Proficiency in technical drawings and guides.
    • Advanced computer literacy.
    • Valid Code 08 Driver’s license.
    • Ability to work shifts, overtime, weekends, and public holidays as required.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintenance and Repairs:

  • Ensure effective execution of maintenance and repair tasks for plant services, including:
    • Refrigeration services.
    • Boilers and steam reticulation/consumption.
    • Electrical systems (HT & LT) and consumption.
    • General building, roads, perimeter fencing, and drainage maintenance.
    • Cold room racking, compressors, air reticulation, and factory ventilation.
    • Air conditioning, production floors, stormwater, sewerage, and ablution facilities.

Team Management:

  • Supervise services millwrights, handymen, and general workers.
  • Collaborate with agents to maintain equipment standards and ensure supplier conformance.

Fault Finding and Budgeting:

  • Conduct fault finding and repairs based on “Best Practices” (5’S and GMP).
  • Manage services and utilities budgets effectively.
  • Perform HAZOP and RCM analyses to ensure optimal maintenance.

Administrative Duties:

  • Ensure daily completion and submission of job cards and timesheets.
  • Assist with maintenance administration tasks.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Actively seek opportunities to improve utility performance.
  • Participate in ‘Way Better’ Teams to enhance overall site performance.

Ad-Hoc Duties:

  • Serve as 2IC in the absence of the Maintenance Manager – Services.
  • Be available during monthly utility shutdowns on Sundays and assist with standby duties.
