Role Overview
The SHEQ Graduate will receive on-the-job training in safety, health, environment, and quality (SHEQ) administration. The position is designed to build expertise by assisting with administrative tasks under the supervision of SHEQ officers and administrators.
Requirements
- Education:
- Grade 12/NQF4 Level equivalent.
- Diploma in Safety Management or SHEQ Qualification.
- Experience:
- First-time participant in an internship/graduate program.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
- Other:
- Willingness to work overtime, including weekends, if needed.
- Rotational assignments between departments for comprehensive training.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The following tasks will be performed under guidance until the graduate is deemed competent:
- Administrative Support:
- Document control, filing, and administration.
- Consolidate QHSSE monthly reports.
- Training and Meetings:
- Assist with QHSSE induction training.
- Record and maintain minutes of QHSSE-related meetings.
- Compliance and Documentation:
- Maintain and update health and safety records.
- Manage TIMS/QHSSE-related systems and software.
- Ensure all documentation adheres to GFC standards.
- Safety Inspections and Audits:
- Plan and schedule safety inspections.
- Ensure corrective actions are documented and implemented.
- Management System Support:
- Assist in implementing and maintaining the QHSSE Management System in line with ISO standards.
- Contribute to training program development and delivery.
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of ISO standards (ISO 22000, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001).
- Understanding of safety and environmental regulations, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act and National Environmental Management Act.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and reporting writing skills.
- Attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to prioritize workload.
- Team-oriented with a proactive attitude.
