Primary Purpose of the Job
The Toolmaker will report to the Toolroom Team Leader and is responsible for the manufacturing, repair, maintenance, and modification of tools, jigs, and dies to meet customer and quality standards.
Key Performance Areas:
- Experience with toolmaking for large skin panels and structural parts
- Problem-solving on the Press line for tooling-related issues
- Skin panel experience to understand tool-dominated defects
- TIG welding experience and cutting clearance optimization
- Experience in Draw Tool stabilization and formability proving
- Worked in a Press shop with automated press lines (200T & 1600T)
Knowledge and Skills Required:
- Strong communication skills
- Decision-making abilities
- Ability to read CMM reports
- Proficient in reading parts and tool drawings
- Problem-solving and consistent inspection
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 and NQF Level 5 qualification
- Qualified Tool and Jig Maker
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience as a Toolmaker in an automotive environment
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience in tool, jig, and die repair
