AFGRI is seeking an experienced and driven Civil Maintenance Foreman to join its operational team in Gauteng. Minimum Requirements
To be considered for the position of Civil Maintenance Foreman, you must meet the following requirements:

Grade 12 certificate

N3 Certificate in Civil Engineering (essential)

Fundamentals of Project Management certification (advantageous)

At least 3 years’ experience in construction site supervision

Experience with plant, facilities, and equipment maintenance, especially in a grain silo environment (advantageous)

Proficiency in construction techniques, materials, and health and safety regulations
Key Responsibilities and Performance Areas
The Civil Maintenance Foreman will play a vital role in the coordination and execution of civil projects and maintenance tasks. Core duties include:

Managing internal civil maintenance teams and contractors, ensuring work is executed efficiently and in line with project schedules.

Ensuring clear and effective communication with silo management, focusing on quality assurance and site safety.

Conducting daily site inspections, keeping accurate records of progress, and ensuring adherence to safety procedures under the OHS Act.

Coordinating and monitoring contractor performance, ensuring quality standards, inspections, and project sign-offs are met.

Ensuring projects stay within budget, managing contracts, resources, and reporting on expenditures.

Addressing on-site issues promptly, minimising risk and ensuring safety protocols are followed.

Reporting regularly to management on project status, risks, and improvements, while contributing to AFGRI’s BBBEE compliance efforts.

Providing on-the-job training and support to team members to promote continuous improvement and skills development.

Upholding disciplinary standards fairly and consistently to maintain a productive work environment.
Technical Competencies

Extensive civil and general facility maintenance knowledge

Solid understanding of OHS regulations

Experience in project planning, execution, and reporting

Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Comfortable with maintenance-specific administration and record-keeping

Understanding of rail and safety regulations

Ability to read blueprints and technical construction drawings
