Job Overview: Millwright (Milling)

The Millwright (Milling) role is a Junior Management position based in Bethal, Mpumalanga. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing electrical and mechanical maintenance, repairs, and inspections to ensure smooth plant operations.

This role is ideal for individuals who are hands-on, technically skilled, and able to troubleshoot effectively in high-pressure situations.

Key Responsibilities

As a Millwright at AFGRI, you will be entrusted with critical tasks to keep production machinery functioning efficiently. Your duties will include:

Plant Maintenance

  • Carry out scheduled and unscheduled electrical and mechanical maintenance.

  • Perform inspections on production equipment to identify potential faults early.

  • Conduct breakdown repairs to minimize downtime and maintain optimal plant productivity.

Project Work and Improvements

  • Execute minor engineering projects aimed at improving milling facilities.

  • Suggest and implement upgrades to enhance operational efficiency.

Compliance and Safety

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety policies at all times.

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.

Reporting and Communication

  • Carry out tasks as instructed by the Engineering Foreman.

  • Provide regular feedback on completed work, outstanding issues, and potential risks.


Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Education & Training

  • N3 Certificate or Grade 12 (Matric).

  • A Trade Test qualification in both Electrical and Mechanical fields.

Experience

  • At least 3 years’ proven experience working as a Millwright, preferably in the milling or agricultural sector.


Technical Competencies

The successful candidate must demonstrate strong technical knowledge and problem-solving ability in the following areas:

  • Mechanical and Electrical aptitude for troubleshooting complex issues.

  • Ability to handle crisis situations effectively and calmly.

  • Skilled in maintenance planning, fault-finding, and repair execution.
