Position Overview

We are seeking a Shop Assistant / Cashier to join our team at Clicks Manzini Mall. This role focuses on providing outstanding customer service, accurate point-of-sale (POS) operations, and professional merchandising to create a positive shopping experience.


Key Responsibilities

As a Shop Assistant / Cashier, you will:

  • Customer Service Excellence

    • Deliver superior service as a brand ambassador, offering a friendly and professional approach to every customer.

    • Make customers aware of promotions to ensure they “feel good and pay less.”

  • Point of Sale (POS) Operations

    • Execute all POS activities efficiently and accurately.

    • Scan merchandise and collect payments with a high level of accuracy.

    • Handle cash safely and responsibly at all times.

  • ClubCard Promotion

    • Proactively promote and enrol new members to achieve clubcard participation targets.

    • Explain rewards and benefits clearly to customers.

  • Merchandising & Store Standards

    • Maintain merchandising and general housekeeping duties to meet Clicks’ visual standards.

    • Keep up-to-date knowledge of products, promotions, and events to provide correct information to customers.

  • Team Support

    • Assist colleagues and management in daily store operations, stock control, and promotional activities.


Required Knowledge & Skills

Knowledge

  • Basic maths and numeracy.

  • Retail/FMCG background with understanding of merchandising and promotions.

  • Awareness of stock management procedures.

  • Strong understanding of customer service excellence.

Skills

  • Planning and organising.

  • Problem-solving and quick decision-making.

  • Strong customer orientation and communication abilities.

  • Computer literacy and numerical accuracy.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

  • Education:

    • Essential: Grade 12 (Matric).

    • Desirable: Minimum 50% in both Maths and English at Grade 12 level.

  • Experience:

    • Previous experience in a customer-facing role within a retail or FMCG environment is advantageous.
