Position Overview

Empact Group is seeking a dynamic and experienced Catering Manager to oversee kitchen operations within a healthcare environment in Bellville, Western Cape.

This role is ideal for an energetic leader with a passion for culinary excellence, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction. The successful candidate will manage the end-to-end catering function — from menu planning and dietary management to staff supervision and cost control — ensuring that all food services are delivered in compliance with HACCP and HSE standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily kitchen operations in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.

  • Implement and monitor production processes to maintain consistency and quality.

  • Plan and develop menus that cater to diverse dietary requirements, including special diets.

  • Manage and control food and labour costs within set budgetary constraints.

  • Ensure full compliance with HACCP and food safety standards.

  • Lead, train, and motivate the kitchen brigade to deliver superior service.

  • Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery and quality of ingredients.

  • Support both strategic and operational decisions to enhance efficiency and customer satisfaction.

  • Uphold Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) regulations across all kitchen operations.

  • Build strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and service teams to ensure expectations are consistently met.


Minimum Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification in Food & Beverage Services or Culinary Arts.

  • Minimum of 3 years’ progressive kitchen management experience.

  • Proven track record in budget management and cost control.

  • Experience in high-volume, complex foodservice operations.

  • Knowledge of special diets and patient nutrition requirements.

  • Strong understanding of HSE regulations and food safety compliance.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and customer service skills.

  • Computer literate with solid HACCP knowledge and documentation capability.
