Brights Hardware is recruiting five (5) General Assistants to join its Drive Thru Yard Department at the Plattekloof branch on a permanent basis in the Western Cape. The role is critical to ensuring efficient yard operations, accurate loading, excellent customer service, and maintaining high housekeeping standards to support customer satisfaction and store profitability.
About the Role
The General Assistant – Drive Thru Yard Department is responsible for delivering excellent service to both internal and external customers, including delivery and transfer drivers. The role focuses on accurate loading, stock handling, housekeeping, and proactive customer assistance to ensure smooth yard operations with minimal stock losses and high customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Loading and Yard Operations
The successful candidates will load customer vehicles, delivery trucks, and transfer trucks promptly and accurately, ensuring correct quantities and safe handling at all times.
Stock Handling and Transfers
Responsibilities include stacking and counting stock accurately, assisting with pulling stock for transfers, and participating in perpetual stocktakes to support inventory accuracy.
Stock Reporting
The role requires reporting stock shortages and breakages promptly to ensure corrective action and prevent losses.
Housekeeping and Safety
Maintaining a clean, tidy, and safe yard area is essential. Duties include sweeping, general cleaning, and upholding high housekeeping standards throughout the work area.
Customer Service and Product Assistance
The General Assistant will assist customers with friendly, professional service, provide basic product knowledge, and support tasks such as bagging stone and sand when required.
Operational Support
Candidates will perform any additional work-related tasks as delegated by supervisors to support efficient yard operations.
Minimum Requirements

Matric or equivalent qualification

Minimum 1 year experience in a similar role (preferred)
