Position Overview
Faircape is currently recruiting a Technical Assistant to join its InPower division in the Southern Suburbs. This role is ideal for a practical, hands-on individual who thrives in an operational environment and is comfortable supporting technical teams.
You will be responsible for assisting with generator refuelling, equipment transport, workshop maintenance, and administrative support. This opportunity is perfect for candidates looking for entry-level technical jobs, driver technician roles, or energy industry jobs in South Africa.
Key Responsibilities
Generator Refuelling Management
- Arrange diesel supply and maintain accurate records
- Perform scheduled generator refuelling
- Respond to emergency refuelling during outages and load shedding
- Record meter readings and track fuel usage
Transport & Logistics
- Transport tools, equipment, and materials between sites
- Assist with deliveries and collections
- Ensure safe loading and offloading of goods
Workshop & Vehicle Maintenance
- Maintain a clean and organised workshop
- Ensure company vehicle is clean and roadworthy
- Report maintenance or safety concerns
Administrative Support
- Log daily travel and mileage accurately
- Maintain records of completed tasks
- Use basic computer systems for reporting
General Operational Support
- Assist the technical team with daily tasks
- Be available for standby duties when required
- Perform additional operational tasks as needed
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- Valid Code 08 driver’s licence
- PDP ‘D’ (highly advantageous)
- Code 10 licence (advantageous)
Experience & Knowledge
- Basic computer literacy
- Hands-on technical or mechanical skills
- Experience in a similar operational or technical role
- Ability to reverse with a trailer or bowser
- Understanding of generator or mechanical environments
