Position Overview
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is building a talent pool of Casual Cashiers for its Fourways Mall store in Sandton. This opportunity is ideal for candidates seeking flexible part-time retail jobs and valuable experience in a dynamic retail environment.
As a Casual Cashier, you will support point-of-sale operations, ensuring accurate transactions while delivering a world-class customer experience.
Purpose of the Role
- Deliver excellent customer service at the point of sale
- Accurately process transactions using Dis-Chem systems
- Maintain strict accuracy and prevent fraud risks
Key Responsibilities
Point of Sale Operations
- Process all customer transactions (cash, cards, vouchers, coupons)
- Handle authorised refunds and exchanges
- Ensure all items are scanned and paid for
- Maintain accurate transaction records
Cash Handling & Security
- Manage and secure daily cash flow
- Ensure cash is stored in drop safes according to SOPs
- Protect login credentials and maintain confidentiality
- Report suspicious activity to management
Customer Service Excellence
- Build professional relationships with customers
- Handle queries, complaints, and compliments
- Maintain Dis-Chem’s 5-star communication standards
- Stay updated on store promotions and campaigns
Compliance & Store Support
- Ensure all price changes and voids are properly authorised
- Adhere to Dis-Chem policies, SOPs, and security procedures
- Assist customers with product-related queries
Loyalty Programme Processing
- Process loyalty cards including:
- Discovery Health
- Medihelp Lifestage
- Momentum Multiply
- Legacy Lifestyle
- ABSA Rewards and eBucks
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Minimum 6 months’ cashier/till experience
- Computer literacy (MS Office)
- Strong numerical and accuracy skills
- Good command of the English language
- Basic customer service experience
- Willingness to work retail hours
Advantageous Skills
- Additional language proficiency
- Experience in retail or FMCG environments
