Purpose of the Role:
To ensure the effective and efficient operation of the plant by monitoring, maintaining, and repairing all plant services.
Requirements:
- Education:
- Matric.
- National Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Millwright Trade Test Certificate.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of maintenance experience in service equipment.
- Skills and Knowledge:
- Proficiency in technical drawings and guides.
- Advanced computer literacy.
- Valid Code 08 Driver’s license.
- Ability to work shifts, overtime, weekends, and public holidays as required.

Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance and Repairs:
- Ensure effective execution of maintenance and repair tasks for plant services, including:
- Refrigeration services.
- Boilers and steam reticulation/consumption.
- Electrical systems (HT & LT) and consumption.
- General building, roads, perimeter fencing, and drainage maintenance.
- Cold room racking, compressors, air reticulation, and factory ventilation.
- Air conditioning, production floors, stormwater, sewerage, and ablution facilities.
Team Management:
- Supervise services millwrights, handymen, and general workers.
- Collaborate with agents to maintain equipment standards and ensure supplier conformance.
Fault Finding and Budgeting:
- Conduct fault finding and repairs based on “Best Practices” (5’S and GMP).
- Manage services and utilities budgets effectively.
- Perform HAZOP and RCM analyses to ensure optimal maintenance.
Administrative Duties:
- Ensure daily completion and submission of job cards and timesheets.
- Assist with maintenance administration tasks.
Continuous Improvement:
- Actively seek opportunities to improve utility performance.
- Participate in ‘Way Better’ Teams to enhance overall site performance.
Ad-Hoc Duties:
- Serve as 2IC in the absence of the Maintenance Manager – Services.
- Be available during monthly utility shutdowns on Sundays and assist with standby duties.
