About the Role
Wild Coast Sun, part of the renowned Sun International Group, is looking for energetic, alert, and dedicated individuals to join our team as Seasonal Lifeguards at our Waterpark. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a vibrant leisure and hospitality environment where safety, teamwork, and guest experience come first.
As a Lifeguard, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety of all guests by preventing accidents, providing first aid when necessary, and maintaining international safety standards. You will be fully trained in line with company procedures and supervised by the Waterpark Lifeguard Supervisor.
This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about safety, enjoys working outdoors, and thrives in a fast-paced, guest-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Rescue and Emergency Care

Prevent loss of life and respond promptly to emergencies.

Administer First Aid and CPR according to best practice standards.

Assess situations quickly and apply the most effective rescue technique.

Provide medical care aligned with SA Life Saving Association standards.

Maintain response times in line with company and national benchmarks.
-
Manage and monitor patient progress until professional assistance arrives.
2. Facility and Activity Control
-
Patrol and monitor all high-risk areas, blind spots, and aquatic zones.

Ensure facilities are safe and hazard-free through daily checklists and SOP compliance.

Identify risks, eliminate threats, and ensure compliance with international best practices.

Remove obstacles and prevent hazardous situations.
-
Provide detailed feedback on patterns or risks observed.
3. Injury Prevention

Enforce facility rules and safety policies consistently.

Educate guests on safe practices and waterpark rules.
-
Identify hazardous behaviors or risks proactively and intervene.
-
Maintain control standards that prevent negligence-related injuries.
4. Guest Service
-
Uphold Sun International grooming, visibility, and dress code standards.
-
Deliver professional, respectful, and friendly guest interactions.

Provide clear communication during emergencies and guest queries.
-
Be proactive in guest safety education and engagement.
Required Qualifications and Experience
To be considered, you must meet the following minimum requirements:

Education:
-
Matric / Grade 12 OR Grade 11 with Lifeguard Award (NQF Level 4).

Certifications (Valid and Current – with annual retests):
-
Lifeguard Award (LGA Surf).
-
LGA Pool Certification.
-
CPR and Advanced First Aid.

Experience:
-
Minimum 2 years’ experience as a lifeguard or in a medical field (EMS, paramedics, rescue services, etc.).

Previous work in a service or hospitality environment is advantageous.

This is a seasonal contract role within the Waterpark operations team.
