Position Overview

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is currently seeking a Cosmetics Cashier for its The Glen store in Johannesburg South. This role focuses on delivering excellent point-of-sale customer service within the cosmetics department while supporting merchandising standards and ensuring accurate cash handling.

The successful candidate will play a vital role in creating a professional, welcoming, and efficient shopping experience for customers.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service & Sales

  • Prioritise customers at the cosmetics till point to ensure fast and accurate transactions
  • Deliver a consistently high standard of customer care and service
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with customers
  • Answer customer queries related to cosmetic and beauty products
  • Refer complex cosmetic product queries to the Cosmetic Consultant
  • Handle customer complaints professionally and escalate unresolved issues to management

Cash Handling & Till Operations

  • Accurately process all transactions including cash, cards, vouchers, coupons, and loyalty payments
  • Ensure all line voids and price changes are authorised by a supervisor
  • Manage accurate cash flow and ensure daily takings are secure
  • Place cash into the drop safe according to Dis-Chem standard operating procedures
  • Process returns and exchanges when authorised
  • Handle daily takings confidentially

Merchandising & Housekeeping

  • Assist with merchandising duties when the cosmetics till is not busy
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and presentation in the cosmetics area
  • Ensure products are correctly priced, labelled, faced up, and stocked
  • Adhere to stock layout and display principles
  • Ensure shelf price talkers are correctly displayed

Security, Compliance & Standards

  • Adhere strictly to Dis-Chem security policies and procedures
  • Verify all payments according to verification procedures
  • Report suspicious behaviour to management
  • Ensure personal till code and password security
  • Comply with Dis-Chem policies, SOPs, health and safety regulations, and uniform standards

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric Certificate
  • Minimum 6 months’ cashier or till operation experience
  • Computer literacy (MS Office)
  • Strong numerical skills
  • Good command of the English language
  • Basic customer service skills
  • Willingness and ability to work retail hours
