Position Overview

Faircape is currently hiring a Groundsman for its Tokai Estate in the Southern Suburbs. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working outdoors and take pride in maintaining beautiful landscapes.

You will be responsible for ensuring that gardens, lawns, and outdoor spaces are well-kept, clean, and visually appealing. This opportunity is perfect for candidates searching for garden maintenance jobs, landscaping roles, or general worker jobs in Cape Town.


Key Responsibilities

Garden Maintenance

  • Prune trees and overgrown shrubs
  • Maintain and redevelop plant beds
  • Cut grass and trim edges
  • Perform weeding and watering tasks
  • Turn over soil and maintain flowerbeds

Tools & Machinery

  • Inspect gardening tools before and after use
  • Clean tools daily after use
  • Oil and sharpen cutting equipment

Refuse Management

  • Collect household refuse
  • Separate recyclable waste from general waste
  • Clean and sanitise refuse bins
  • Load and dispose of garden waste

Housekeeping & General Duties

  • Clean workshop and canteen areas
  • Maintain cleanliness around reception and common areas
  • Open outdoor dining areas and umbrellas when required
  • Maintain cleanliness around security areas

General Maintenance

  • Sweep synthetic turf and paved surfaces
  • Maintain courtyards and healthcare areas
  • Collect leaves and debris
  • Inspect and maintain perimeter fencing and vegetation

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

  • Matric (advantageous)

Experience & Knowledge

  • At least 1 year of experience in a similar role
  • Knowledge of gardening techniques and plant care
  • Familiarity with horticultural tools and machinery (advantageous)
  • Knowledge of irrigation systems (advantageous)
  • Understanding of health and safety procedures
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks
