About the Role
The Finance and Insurance Manager plays a critical role in supporting dealership operations by managing vehicle finance processes and selling approved insurance products. The role focuses on maximising gross profit while ensuring strict compliance with financial regulations and industry standards.
This position requires strong knowledge of legislation, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to deliver results in a high-volume dealership environment.
Key Responsibilities of a Finance and Insurance Manager
Finance & Insurance Sales
- Conduct financial needs analyses for customers
- Offer and sell value-added finance and insurance products
- Maximise second gross profit through effective sales strategies
- Educate customers on available finance and insurance solutions
Customer Service & Relationship Management
- Provide expert financial and insurance advice
- Build strong customer relationships to ensure retention
- Deliver a high level of service throughout the sales process
Compliance & Governance
- Ensure full compliance with legislation including NCA, CRA, FAIS, and FICA
- Maintain dealership compliance with all regulatory requirements
- Adhere to Financial Services Board (FSB) standards, including honesty and integrity
Operational & Administrative Management
- Manage and maintain the finance and insurance debtor’s book
- Record and report transactional activities accurately
- Support dealership operations with finance-related processes
- Provide data for decision-making and reporting
Performance & Growth
- Deliver on agreed performance targets and budgets
- Support dealership growth and profitability
- Continuously develop knowledge and industry expertise
Minimum Requirements – Finance and Insurance Manager
Education:
- Grade 12 / Matric — essential
- Relevant diploma — essential
- Credit Management Diploma — advantageous
- Regulatory Exam, NC Accreditation, or Insurance Qualification (minimum 120 credits) — essential
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years experience in a similar role — essential
- Automotive retail or banking experience — essential
Legal & Compliance Requirements:
- Accredited by FSP and mandated to perform NCA functions
- Up-to-date CPD points within required timeframes
- Valid driver’s license
Technical Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of NCA, CRA, FAIS, and FICA
- Knowledge of dealership policies, trade practices, and legislation
