Handyman – Platinum Square

Main Purpose of the Job

To maintain the building and ensure that all facilities, equipment, and systems are working properly. The handyman is responsible for repairs, inspections, tenant assistance, and keeping the property safe, clean, and functional.

Key Responsibilities

Building Maintenance

• Inspect the building daily to identify maintenance problems.
• Repair minor faults and report major issues to the Building Supervisor.
• Check doors, windows, lights, toilets, taps, and other fittings.
• Replace faulty light bulbs and repair damaged fixtures.
• Keep the building and surrounding areas clean and well-maintained.

Equipment Checks

• Inspect air conditioners, pumps, water tanks, electrical boards, and other equipment.
• Ensure all equipment is operating correctly.
• Record maintenance issues and arrange repairs when needed.

Safety and Compliance

• Follow all health and safety regulations.
• Assist with fire equipment inspections.
• Understand emergency procedures and emergency equipment.
• Conduct safety inspections and report hazards.

Tenant Support

• Respond quickly to tenant maintenance requests.
• Assist tenants when moving into the building.
• Help with office alterations and partition relocations.
• Report tenant complaints and ensure they are resolved.

Record Keeping

• Complete maintenance work orders and reports.
• Keep maintenance records accurate and updated.
• Record materials used and repairs completed.

Teamwork and Communication

• Work closely with the Building Supervisor and Property Manager.
• Attend meetings when required.
• Assist other departments with maintenance-related tasks.
• Report urgent issues immediately.

Requirements

Education

• Grade 10 (Standard 8) or equivalent.
• Additional maintenance or repair training is an advantage.

Experience

• At least 2 years of maintenance or handyman experience.

Knowledge

• Basic building maintenance and repair skills.
• Understanding of workplace safety procedures.
• Ability to read and follow building plans (blueprints).
