Core Values We Look For in a Call Centre Agent
Student-Centred Purpose & Educational Passion
Every call the Call Centre Agent makes is an opportunity to change the direction of a student’s life. We look for agents who understand and feel that weight — who approach every consultation with genuine curiosity about the student’s goals, who present course options with authentic enthusiasm, and who measure their success not only in enrolment numbers but in the number of students they helped find the right academic pathway.
Telephonic Sales Drive & Outbound Persistence
Cold calling and database outreach are not passive activities — they require persistence, resilience, and a consistent willingness to pick up the phone and engage, regardless of how many calls have not converted before this one. We value agents who bring disciplined, positive energy to every shift, who treat every unanswered call as one step closer to the next enrolment, and who maintain their motivation and professionalism even on challenging calling days.
Rapport-Building & Consultative Communication
The best Call Centre Agents do not read from scripts — they have genuine conversations. We value individuals who build rapport quickly and naturally over the phone, who ask the right questions to uncover what a student really needs, who listen actively before recommending a course, and who communicate the Rosebank College value proposition in a way that feels personal and relevant to each individual prospect.
Data Accuracy & Database Discipline
Every student detail captured incorrectly, every consultation note missed, every deadline not communicated creates friction in the recruitment pipeline. We value Call Centre Agents who treat their database responsibilities with the same care they bring to their calls — who capture information completely and accurately the first time, who keep their contact records up to date, and who understand that clean data is the foundation of effective follow-up and successful enrolment.
Team Contribution & Collective Accountability
Call centre performance is a team achievement as much as an individual one. We value agents who contribute positively to the team environment — who share what is working, who support colleagues during difficult periods, who celebrate the team’s successes alongside their own, and who show up every day with the shared goal of growing Rosebank College’s student community and advancing its mission of shaping futures.
Career Growth Opportunities in Education Sales & Student Recruitment
Joining IIE Rosebank College as a Call Centre Agent provides an excellent entry point into the higher education sales and student recruitment sector within the ADvTECH Group. For motivated, high-performing individuals, the progression pathway is achievable:
- Call Centre Agent → Senior Call Centre Agent / Team Mentor
- Senior Call Centre Agent / Team Mentor → Student Advisor / Call Centre Supervisor
- Student Advisor / Call Centre Supervisor → Head of Student Recruitment
- Head of Student Recruitment → Campus Manager / Regional Recruitment Manager
Your career path is in your hands.
Frequently Asked Questions – Call Centre Agent Jobs
What kind of sales experience is required for this role? A minimum of 1 year’s sales experience is required. This does not need to be specifically in the education sector — candidates with outbound call centre, telesales, retail sales, or any target-driven customer engagement background will be considered. The key attributes the college is looking for are the ability to build rapport, handle objections professionally, and work consistently toward enrolment targets. A sales qualification is listed as ideal and will strengthen an application.
Is this an inbound or outbound call centre role? This is primarily an outbound role. The Call Centre Agent proactively contacts prospective students, existing student family members, and inactive database contacts to introduce the Rosebank College brand, set up telephonic consultations, and guide students through the application process. While the role does include responding to student queries during consultations, the majority of calling activity is outbound and target-driven.
Will I be advising students on specific courses and qualifications? Yes. Part of the Call Centre Agent’s consultation process involves asking career-specific questions, identifying the most suitable programme for the student’s goals, and discussing course content, duration, career outcomes, and admission requirements in detail. Full training on Rosebank College’s programme offering, qualification information, and application processes will be provided during onboarding. A genuine interest in higher education and career guidance will be an advantage in this aspect of the role.
What happens if I have a Matric but no sales experience? One year of sales experience is listed as an essential requirement. Candidates who hold a Matric but have no sales experience will not fully meet the minimum criteria. Candidates with limited experience who have completed a sales qualification or who have been in a customer-facing role with commercial targets may be considered on a case-by-case basis. A sales qualification is specifically highlighted as ideal and will support an application from a less experienced candidate.
Is this a permanent position? Yes. This is a permanent position, offering long-term employment stability and career development opportunities within the IIE Rosebank College Call Centre division and the broader ADvTECH Group.
What is the closing date and how do I apply? The closing date is 30 June 2026. Ensure your CV clearly reflects your Matric qualification, 1 year of sales experience, and any call centre, telesales, or student recruitment experience. Applications received after the closing date will not be considered. If you are not contacted within a reasonable period after the closing date, please consider your application unsuccessful.
