About the Role

The Student Advisor at IIE Rosebank College RC Nelspruit is responsible for organising, coordinating, and executing the full student recruitment cycle across the assigned territory — from representing the college at high school visits and community outreach events to developing corporate partnerships, coordinating recruitment fairs, preparing recruitment reports, and providing career and academic counselling to prospective students. This is a field-based, target-driven role that demands equal parts sales competence and genuine student-centricity.

The ideal candidate is someone who combines a critical knowledge of sales techniques with a deep understanding of the higher education landscape — who can deliver a compelling Business-to-Business presentation to a school principal in the morning and provide empathetic academic counselling to a Grade 12 learner in the afternoon. A valid driver’s licence and own vehicle are essential, as the role requires active travel within the assigned territory. At Rosebank College, the Student Advisor is not just a recruiter — they are a futures-shaper, and the work they do today determines the opportunities available to students tomorrow.

Please note: A valid driver’s licence and own car are essential requirements for this role. Candidates who do not meet this requirement will not be considered.

Rosebank College is an equal opportunities employer. Preference will be given to EE and South African candidates.

Core Values We Look For in a Student Advisor

Student-Centred Purpose & Genuine Care

Rosebank College has been shaping futures since 1909 — and every Student Advisor carries that legacy into the field. We look for individuals who are genuinely motivated by the impact that higher education has on a student’s life, who approach every school visit, counselling session, and application conversation with empathy and purpose, and who understand that a target number on a spreadsheet represents a real person standing at the crossroads of their future.

Sales Drive & Target Accountability

Student recruitment is a sales function, and the best Student Advisors embrace that without apology. We value individuals who are commercially motivated, who set personal targets alongside the campus’s goals, who track their own pipeline with discipline, who apply proven sales techniques in their outreach activities, and who hold themselves accountable for the numbers — because growing the student population is how Rosebank College continues to expand its impact.

Community Partnership & Brand Representation

The Student Advisor’s effectiveness in the territory depends on the strength of the relationships they build. We value advisors who invest in their school and community partnerships with consistency and genuine interest, who show up at career fairs prepared and knowledgeable, who develop alumni and corporate connections that extend the college’s reach, and who represent the Rosebank College brand with the professionalism and enthusiasm it deserves in every external interaction.

Analytical Thinking & Strategic Recruitment

Great student recruitment is not just about activity — it is about directing effort where it will have the most impact. We value Student Advisors who analyse their territory data with curiosity, who identify which schools, demographics, or channels are producing the strongest leads, who adapt their strategy in response to what the numbers are telling them, and who bring evidence-based thinking to their recruitment planning rather than relying on habit or intuition alone.

Adaptability & Cross-Cultural Competence

The Mbombela territory is diverse — culturally, linguistically, and socioeconomically — and the Student Advisor must be equally effective across all of it. We value individuals who adapt their communication style, their counselling approach, and their outreach methods to the specific needs and context of each audience they engage with, who treat diversity as a strength, and who build genuine trust with students and communities regardless of background.

Career Growth Opportunities in Higher Education Sales & Student Recruitment

Joining IIE Rosebank College as a Student Advisor provides a strong foundation for a career in higher education recruitment, campus management, and education leadership within the ADvTECH Group. For motivated, high-performing individuals, the progression pathway is clear:

  • Student Advisor → Senior Student Advisor / Team Leader
  • Senior Student Advisor / Team Leader → Head of Student Recruitment
  • Head of Student Recruitment → Campus Operations Manager
  • Campus Operations Manager → Campus Manager / Regional Director

Your career path is in your hands.

What sales experience is required and does it need to be in education? A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a sales and target-driven environment is essential. This does not need to be exclusively in the education sector — candidates with strong sales backgrounds in other industries will be considered provided they can demonstrate commercial drive, target achievement, and the ability to adapt to a student recruitment context. Experience in customer service within the Higher Education sector is listed as advantageous and will strengthen the application.

What does the B2B presentation requirement involve? The Student Advisor is expected to develop and deliver Business-to-Business presentations to schools, corporate partners, and community organisations as part of the college’s brand awareness and recruitment strategy in the assigned zone. Is this role based in the office or field-based? This is a predominantly field-based role requiring active travel within the assigned territory — visiting schools, attending community and corporate events, coordinating recruitment fairs, and meeting with prospective students and parents. There is also an internal coordination and reporting dimension that is office-based. Candidates should be comfortable with a split between field activity and administrative responsibilities.
