Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a Clinic Receptionist at their Longships-Plettenberg Bay location. This role focuses on providing top-notch patient support, both in-person and over the phone, and coordinating appointments and documentation to ensure the smooth operation of the clinic and delivery of quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Registration: Register patients according to established standards and assist with the completion of medical forms and insurance documentation.
  • Appointment Coordination: Ensure smooth scheduling and movement of patients through appointments.
  • Administrative Support: Manage patient records, including opening new files and verifying information accuracy.
  • Medical Aid Processing: Process medical aid payments and assist patients with medical aid authorizations.
  • Reception Area Maintenance: Keep the reception area clean, ensuring privacy and confidentiality.
  • Call Management: Answer incoming calls promptly, using proper telephone etiquette, and provide accurate information to callers. Take detailed messages and ensure correct transfer of calls.
  • Emergency Assistance: Provide support to patients in distress and assist during emergencies.
  • Customer Support: Assist walk-in guests, handle inquiries, and provide feedback to customers and patients within a timely manner.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12 / Matric

Competencies and Skills:

  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal communication and active listening skills.
  • Attention to Detail: Ensure all patient details, messages, and calls are accurately captured and processed.
  • Problem Solving: Able to assist patients with queries and resolve issues effectively.
  • Time Management: Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently and work under pressure.

Special Conditions of Employment:

  • South African Citizen
  • Must have a dedicated workstation (sit at a desk most of the day)
  • Clear criminal and credit record
  • Driver’s license and/or reliable transport
