About the Role:
The Junior Technical Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and improving the daily maintenance tasks within the facilities. This includes supervising subcontractors and ensuring health, safety, and environmental compliance. You will be responsible for carrying out inspections, planning, measuring works, implementing quality assurance, and verifying financial sign-offs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct site inspections to maintain housing assets, office blocks, and change houses.
- Ensure completion of work orders as logged in the Planon software module.
- Log and manage reactive maintenance tasks using the Planon system.
- Scrutinize quotations according to pricing schedules.
- Write scope of work in Bill of Material format.
- Perform quality control inspections on projects, renovations, and maintenance.
- Manage and report on the progress of maintenance, projects, and renovations.
- Oversee the planned maintenance system and statutory schedules.
- Perform inspections in accordance with Safe Work Method Statements and document results.
- Ensure all tasks are completed by qualified tradesmen in line with approved procedures.
- Participate in shutdown planning and conduct inspections for compliance.
Education and Experience:
- Matric is essential.
- Completed N1 to N3 in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering.
- At least 3 years of supervisory experience in a relevant field.
- Experience in Business Administration, including SHE (Safety, Health, Environment), Finance, Planning, Quantity Surveying, and QA/QC.
- Valid Driver’s License is required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies:
- Understanding of plumbing, basic electrical, and civil works or a facilities maintenance background.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and workplace safety compliance.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to identify potential issues.
- Attention to detail and ability to create and implement procedures.
- Basic understanding of electrical compliance (SANS 10142-1), water supply and drainage standards (SANS 10252-1), and building regulations (SANS 10400).
Additional Information:
- May be required to perform standby and overtime duties.
- Involvement in shutdown planning activities.
- Ability to work with various teams and manage projects effectively.
