Job Description
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a Security Guard to provide a security service in line with the Private Security Industry Regulations Act 56 of 2001. The role is responsible for protecting assets, property, and staff by creating a safe and secure environment, investigating disturbances, and adhering to industry legislation and best practices.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 / Matric or Senior Certificate
• Grade C accreditation with PSIRA
• A minimum of 3 years’ exposure to the retail industry (shopping malls and warehouses)

Advantageous

• At least 1 year of previous experience in a similar role

Job Specification

• Conduct regular patrols of premises to identify suspicious activities.
• Monitor and control access, ensuring only authorized individuals enter.
• Report damage or unlawful entry to management and act accordingly.
• Serve as a deterrent to crime by being visible and alert.
• Maintain a friendly and approachable demeanor with staff and customers.
• Perform access control by searching staff, suppliers, and merchandise.
• Maintain all registers and occurrence books.
• Supervise refuse removal and ensure compliance with Dis-Chem standards.
• Protect company assets from theft, damage, and dishonorable acts.
• Adhere to opening and closing procedures, ensuring all security measures are in place.
• Conduct vehicle searches and report suspicious incidents.
• Provide security assistance during emergencies and evacuations.
• Respond to alarms and monitor surveillance equipment.
• Maintain safety during evacuation procedures and ensure law and order.
• Provide ongoing security advice and safety tips.

Competencies

• Knowledge of PSIRA regulations
• Fire emergency and health & safety training
• Good English communication skills

Advantageous

• Proficiency in a third language

Special Conditions of Employment

• PSIRA registered and Grade C accreditation
• South African citizen
• MIE, clear criminal and credit record
• Driver’s license and own reliable transport (PDP required if deployed as a driver)
