Job Summary:
Clinix Health Group is seeking a Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to provide strategic leadership and oversight of the Clinical Department. The incumbent will drive clinical performance, cost efficiency, and quality care standards while ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations. This role involves collaborating with senior executives, optimizing patient care across all Clinix hospitals, and leading clinical risk management initiatives.
Minimum Requirements:
✔ MBChB (Bachelor of Medicine & Surgery)
✔ Registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA)
✔ Master’s Degree in Public Health or Business Administration (preferred)
✔ 10 years of clinical experience, with at least 5 years in a senior management role
✔ Proven leadership in healthcare services
Key Responsibilities:
1. Clinical Strategy & Leadership
- Set the strategic direction for clinical operations in alignment with Clinix’s vision, mission, and values.
- Oversee policy development and ensure adherence to clinical standards, SOPs, and protocols.
- Drive patient safety, quality improvement, and clinical risk management.
- Ensure integration and optimization of the clinical function across hospital and head office levels.
- Guide operational and clinical teams to achieve cost-effectiveness and efficiency.
2. Governance, Compliance & Risk Management
- Establish governance, ethics, and compliance frameworks for clinical operations.
- Ensure regulatory compliance and drive clinical risk management strategies.
- Develop and enforce admission privilege agreements for medical doctors.
3. Financial & Resource Optimization
- Develop and execute cost-effective financial strategies for procurement, pharmacy, and staffing.
- Oversee budget management and ensure efficient resource utilization.
- Monitor financial performance metrics and ensure accountability across clinical departments.
4. Stakeholder & Team Leadership
- Act as a clinical expert to support nurses, medical professionals, and allied health workers.
- Establish and maintain strategic partnerships across multiple functional areas (Finance, Operations, Hospital Management, Nursing, and Medical teams).
- Lead a performance-driven culture, ensuring accountability and recognition across teams.
- Engage with EXCO and board members, presenting strategic proposals and clinical performance updates.
