Job Summary:

Clinix Health Group is looking for a dedicated Clinical Pharmacist to lead and manage clinical pharmacy services within the hospital. The successful candidate will be responsible for daily ward rounds, medication reviews, pharmaceutical risk management, and antibiotic stewardship to enhance patient safety and therapeutic outcomes.


Minimum Qualifications & Experience:

Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm) Degree
Postgraduate qualification in Clinical Pharmacy
Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)
5+ years’ experience as a pharmacist (post-internship)
Minimum 2 years’ experience in Clinical Pharmacy, with expertise in:

  • Antibiotic Stewardship
  • Pharmacovigilance
  • Rational Medicine Use
    Proficient in Microsoft 365 (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
    ✔ Experience with Blue Bird Programme and SAP software (advantageous)

Key Responsibilities:

1. Clinical Pharmacy & Patient Care

  • Conduct daily ward rounds and perform comprehensive medication reviews for patients.
  • Monitor responses to medications, making necessary adjustments and interventions.
  • Ensure medication safety and resolve medication-related challenges proactively.
  • Elevate Antimicrobial Stewardship performance, monitor microorganism trends, and drive interventions for optimal drug utilization.
  • Provide evidence-based drug information and recommendations for medication therapy management.
  • Document interventions, recommendations, and patient outcomes accurately.

2. Pharmaceutical Risk & Governance

  • Develop and implement drug administration protocols to manage pharmaceutical risks.
  • Report medication adverse events and implement corrective actions.
  • Prepare and present reports to the Clinix Clinical Risk Committee.
  • Ensure compliance with clinical pharmacy standards and hospital policies.

3. Stakeholder Collaboration & Training

  • Work closely with doctors, microbiologists, nurses, pharmacists, and infection prevention teams.
  • Provide training, mentorship, and workplace-based support to pharmacists.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings to ensure collaborative patient care.
  • Support operational research and continuous education within the clinical pharmacy department.
