Key Responsibilities of the Business Developer (Wholesale)
As a Business Developer, you will be expected to lead and manage a broad range of sales and customer-facing activities with key wholesale accounts. Your responsibilities will include:
Wholesale Channel Strategy Execution

Implement and execute the Wholesale Channel strategy aligned with the Annual Business Plan.

Achieve targeted volume and revenue growth across assigned wholesale accounts.
Joint Business Planning with Customers

Partner with wholesale clients to develop and implement joint business plans.

Identify mutual growth opportunities to foster long-term partnerships.
Customer Relationship Management

Build and maintain strong relationships with customer stakeholders.

Manage issue resolution effectively and unlock new sales opportunities.
Forecasting and Demand Planning
-
Provide accurate customer insights to improve sales forecasting and planning.

Support the commercial team with performance reviews and data analysis.
Trading Terms and Contract Compliance

Monitor customer compliance with contractual agreements.

Enforce trading terms to ensure fair, profitable business practices.
Credit and Collections Oversight

Work closely with the Credit and Accounts team to manage customer credit.

Ensure adherence to agreed payment terms and credit utilization.
Product Quality and Supply Chain Interface

Oversee product availability, stock management, and storage practices.

Collaborate with Distribution teams to improve truck Turn-Around-Time (TAT).
Merchandising and In-Trade Compliance

Drive Look of Success (LOS) standards in-store.

Ensure merchandising consistency and visibility across wholesale locations.

Minimum Requirements and Qualifications
Education:

Matric (Grade 12) and a formal qualification in Sales, Marketing, or a Commercial discipline.
Experience:

4 to 6 years’ experience in a Commercial or FMCG environment.

Proven track record in sales strategy execution and customer growth within the wholesale sector.
