About the Role

Sun International’s InterContinental Table Bay Cape Town is seeking an experienced and passionate Kids Club Team Leader to oversee the daily operations of our Kids Club. This role is dedicated to creating a safe, fun, and engaging environment for young guests, ensuring that they enjoy unforgettable experiences while their parents have peace of mind.

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning activities, supervising staff, ensuring compliance, and maintaining high service standards, while also contributing to marketing, administration, and revenue growth.


Key Responsibilities

1. Kids Club Operations & Supervision

  • Oversee daily Kids Club operations, ensuring smooth running of activities, staff, and facilities.

  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with SHE legislation, SOPs, and quality standards.

  • Keep the facility clean, organised, safe, and welcoming at all times.

  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives based on feedback and best practices.

2. Activity Planning & Delivery

  • Develop and implement age-appropriate daily activity programs including arts, crafts, games, sports, storytelling, educational sessions, and themed events.

  • Incorporate elements of local culture, heritage, and nature into activities, creating memorable, culturally rich experiences.

  • Supervise the setup of play areas, ensuring safety and readiness of equipment and resources.

  • Interact with children and parents to address needs, concerns, or special requirements.

3. Guest Interaction & Service Excellence

  • Welcome and engage with children and parents, ensuring a friendly and professional experience.

  • Provide customised offerings such as party packages, group activities, entertainment, and meals.

  • Collaborate with marketing to promote and upsell Kids Club services and special activities.

  • Contribute to guest engagement campaigns, content creation, and promotional events.

4. Staff Leadership & Development

  • Draft weekly staff rosters and allocate duties to ensure operational coverage.

  • Oversee timekeeping systems (e.g., Kronos) and manage leave and schedules.

  • Conduct shift briefings, manage handovers, and ensure accurate shift reporting.

  • Onboard new team members and provide training, coaching, and mentorship.

  • Conduct performance appraisals, handle employee relations, and enforce disciplinary procedures where needed.

  • Ensure staff maintain professional presentation and align with brand standards.

5. Administration & Reporting

  • Manage guest registrations, attendance records, and cashier transactions.

  • Monitor and reconcile daily revenues, attendance figures, stock usage, and expenses.

  • Conduct monthly stock counts of Kids Club supplies, equipment, and merchandise.

  • Maintain organised filing systems (manual or digital) in line with company and legislative requirements.

  • Provide staff with feedback from audits and drive continuous improvement initiatives.


Requirements

Education

  • Grade 12 / Matric.

  • Certificate in Early Childhood Development/Education.

  • Valid First Aid Certificate.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a kids club, crèche, or childcare environment.

  • At least 2 years’ experience at a supervisory level.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Strong activity planning and craft design skills.

  • Knowledge of childcare safety regulations and SHE legislation.

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and Opera systems.

  • Inventory management and project coordination.

  • Excellent communication skills (English – verbal and written).

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.

Work Conditions

  • Ability to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required.

  • Physically fit and mobile to perform duties effectively.
