Position Overview
Exxaro is seeking a Manager: Treasury to join its Corporate Centre in Centurion. This is an exceptional opportunity for a financial professional with a strong background in treasury management, corporate finance, and strategic leadership.
In this role, you will lead and manage all treasury operations, including foreign exchange, interest rate, and liquidity risk management, while ensuring compliance with corporate finance standards and regulations. You will play a pivotal role in developing strategic funding plans, managing banking relationships, and optimising hedging transactions and investment portfolios to maintain the company’s financial integrity.

Key Responsibilities
As the Manager, Treasury, you will be responsible for a range of critical financial management and strategic duties, including:
1. Treasury Operations Management

Oversee and coordinate all aspects of the company’s treasury activities.

Manage foreign exchange exposures, interest rate risks, and liquidity positions to ensure financial stability and compliance with policies.

Implement treasury best practices and internal controls to safeguard company assets.
2. Strategic Financial Planning

Develop and implement funding strategies that align with Exxaro’s corporate finance goals and capital structure requirements.

Support the organisation’s growth objectives by identifying cost-effective financing opportunities.

Monitor and optimise the company’s cash flow and liquidity to meet operational and investment needs.
3. Banking and Financial Institution Relations

Cultivate and maintain strategic relationships with banks, lenders, and financial institutions.

Negotiate loan facilities, credit lines, and other financial arrangements to ensure favourable terms and conditions.

Serve as the main point of contact for rating agencies and bond market investors.
4. Compliance and Risk Management

Ensure adherence to corporate finance standards, South African Reserve Bank (SARB) requirements, and other regulatory obligations.

Monitor compliance with loan covenants and ensure timely reporting of financial positions and exposures.

Evaluate and manage risks associated with financial instruments and hedging activities.
5. Portfolio Management and Hedging

Develop strategies for optimising hedging transactions to mitigate market risks.

Oversee the company’s investment portfolio, ensuring sound financial decision-making aligned with business objectives.

Evaluate and implement new banking products that support operational efficiency and risk reduction.
6. Leadership and Team Development

Lead a team of treasury professionals, promoting continuous learning, accountability, and ethical conduct.

Foster a culture of high performance, collaboration, and innovation within the finance division.

Provide mentorship and guidance to staff to enhance technical and strategic treasury capabilities.
7. Reporting and Performance Management

Supervise the preparation of detailed financial and treasury reports for internal and external stakeholders.

Present accurate and timely updates on cash flow, liquidity, and investment performance to senior management.

Drive improvements in financial reporting systems and data accuracy for better decision-making.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications and experience criteria:

Education:

Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) in Finance, Management Sciences, or a related field (Essential/Minimum)

Management Development Programme (Essential/Minimum)

Master of Business Administration (MBA) (Recommended/Desirable)

Experience:

A minimum of 10 years’ relevant financial or treasury experience at an operational or managerial level.

Proven experience in managing foreign exchange, interest rate, and liquidity risk exposures.

Demonstrated success in cultivating strong relationships with banks and financial institutions.

Hands-on experience in compliance with corporate finance and treasury regulations.

Professional Membership:

Membership with a recognised professional body (e.g., SAICA, CIMA, CFA) is advantageous.
