Position Overview

Fidelity ADT Cape Town is currently seeking a qualified Alarm & CCTV Service Technician to join its team of dedicated security professionals. The successful candidate will be responsible for servicing, repairing, and maintaining alarm systems and related security equipment for domestic, commercial, and industrial clients.

This position requires a highly motivated individual with strong technical knowledge, excellent troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. You will be responsible for ensuring that all security systems are fully functional, compliant with company standards, and meet client expectations.


Minimum Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Matric or equivalent qualification (Grade 12 essential).

  • At least 5 years’ experience working as an Alarm Technician within the security or electrical systems industry.

  • Proven expertise in alarm system programming, wiring, installations, and fault finding.

  • Must hold a valid driver’s license.

  • PSIRA registration (Grade E) is mandatory.

  • Strong technical knowledge of DSC, FBI, CADDX, IDS, Paradox, and Texecom alarm systems.

  • Working knowledge of CCTV systems, Intercoms, and Access Control solutions.

  • Ability to work standby shifts as per the duty roster.


Core Responsibilities

The primary duties of the Alarm & CCTV Service Technician include technical maintenance, troubleshooting, customer support, and administrative reporting. The role requires both field-based and office-based work to ensure smooth operations and optimal system performance.

Technical Responsibilities

  • Conduct service calls, maintenance, and repairs of alarm systems at client premises.

  • Program and configure alarm panels to meet Fidelity ADT standards and client specifications.

  • Perform system handovers and quotations for new installations or upgrades.

  • Re-program existing alarm systems when taking over systems from other providers.

  • Install and test small alarm or CCTV systems when required.

  • Assist with system link-ups for new clients joining the Fidelity ADT network.

  • Conduct fault finding and implement efficient solutions to ensure system reliability.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Complete daily drive sheets, job reports, and technical invoices accurately and on time.

  • Prepare quotes for upgrades or replacements and submit them for management review.

  • Conduct vehicle, ladder, and equipment inspections and report findings to the Field Line Manager (FLM).

  • Maintain an up-to-date record of all tools, equipment, and stock used in service jobs.

  • Keep the company vehicle clean and organized at all times.

  • Ensure that all documentation and client records are completed according to company standards.

  • Ensure all service calls are attended to promptly or rescheduled appropriately.

  • Guarantee that all alarm systems are programmed in accordance with company and client requirements.

  • Maintain high-quality workmanship during installations, maintenance, and repairs.

  • Ensure all documents and job cards are completed accurately and submitted within set timelines.

  • Comply with health and safety standards during all technical operations.

Administrative Standards

  • Maintain accurate records of daily activities, including drive sheets and job reports.

  • Submit technical invoices and quotations timeously and with full accuracy.

  • Ensure weekly inspection checks on equipment, ladders, and vehicles are completed and reported.

  • Conduct stock control checks regularly to avoid shortages or discrepancies.

  • Maintain a professional image by ensuring that vehicles and uniforms are clean and presentable at all times.
