Role Purpose – Supporting ICT Operations Across Multiple Locations

The Field ICT Technician Intern is responsible for assisting in the provision of desktop, technical, printer, and network support to end-users. This internship exposes graduates to:

  • Desktop and hardware support

  • IT Service Management (ITSM) operations

  • Local Area Network (LAN) support and troubleshooting

  • Device install, move, add, change, and decommission (IMACD) procedures

This hands-on role ensures that interns develop real-world ICT skills while supporting efficient service delivery in government offices nationwide.


Key Duties and Responsibilities

Interns will be expected to perform a variety of technical and administrative tasks, including:

1. End-User Desktop and Printer Support

  • Assist in troubleshooting desktop hardware and software issues

  • Provide printer and peripheral support to end-users

  • Resolve or escalate incidents according to ICT service procedures

2. IT Service Management (ITSM) Support

  • Accept, update, resolve, or reassign incident and task calls on ITSM

  • Conduct call management, tracking, and documentation

  • Ensure accurate logging of all user requests and resolutions

3. Network Support – Local Area Network (LAN)

  • Assist with network connectivity troubleshooting

  • Support the configuration of devices on LAN infrastructure

  • Provide guidance and support for network-related incidents

4. Device Installation, Movement, and Decommissioning (IMACD)

  • Assist in installing, moving, adding, changing, and decommissioning devices

  • Support end-user access provisioning

  • Ensure equipment is operational and compliant with departmental standards

5. Desktop Application Installation and Troubleshooting

  • Install and configure software applications

  • Assist users with application-related issues

  • Ensure desktop systems are updated and compliant with IT policies

6. Documentation and Reporting

  • Maintain logs of all incidents and resolutions

  • Update internal reports on ICT support performance

  • Assist in identifying recurring technical issues for escalation
