Position Overview
The Bartender will prepare and deliver premium beverage services across our banqueting and restaurant venues. This role is central to ensuring that every drink served reflects the quality, energy, and excellence synonymous with Sun International.
The position provides an opportunity to work in a high-performance hospitality environment while honing your skills in mixology, guest service, and beverage management.
Key Responsibilities
Prepared Work Area
- Prepare mise-en-place and conduct required checks prior to service.
- Stock bars and ensure cleanliness of assigned sections.
- Identify and resolve any issues with bar display, equipment, or systems.
Service Execution
- Take guest orders accurately and place in the system.
- Mix and present beverages according to guest orders and outlet standards.
- Upsell promotional items and provide billing to guests.
- Conduct cash-ups and complete beverage stock sheets each shift.
Bar Standards
- Maintain compliance with Food & Beverage Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Participate in stock takes and daily counts of bar smalls.
- Report anomalies or breakages promptly.
- Adhere to health, safety, hygiene, and environmental regulations.
Customer Engagement
- Greet and interact with guests warmly, providing attentive and professional service.
- Understand customer preferences and educate them on products, facilities, and promotions.
- Handle customer complaints, requests, and suggestions, escalating when necessary.
Minimum Requirements
- Education: Grade 12 preferred; Grade 10 with relevant experience acceptable.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years as a bartender in a high-volume environment.
- Skills & Knowledge:
- Beverage/cocktail product knowledge
- Mixology and barrister skills
- Cashiering and basic computer literacy
- Communication, upselling, and customer service skills
- Work Conditions:
- Ability to work shifts according to operational requirements
- Physically able to handle bar equipment
- Flexibility to perform similar functions in alternative outlets if required
