GALXBOY is seeking a dedicated and reliable Office Cleaner to maintain a clean, hygienic, and well-organised office environment. This role plays a critical part in supporting daily business operations by ensuring all workspaces, shared areas, and facilities are kept to a consistently high standard of cleanliness and safety.


Purpose of the Role

The primary purpose of the Office Cleaner position is to ensure that all office areas remain neat, presentable, and compliant with health and safety standards at all times. The successful candidate will be responsible for general cleaning, daily housekeeping tasks, and periodic deep cleaning across the office environment, including restrooms, kitchens, meeting rooms, and shared spaces. This role requires attention to detail, physical stamina, discretion, and a strong sense of responsibility.


Key Responsibilities

General Cleaning and Housekeeping

The Office Cleaner will perform a wide range of general cleaning duties to ensure a professional and hygienic working environment. This includes the proper use, maintenance, and storage of cleaning tools and equipment, as well as adherence to all health and safety regulations when handling cleaning chemicals. Any maintenance issues, damages, or safety hazards identified during cleaning must be reported promptly to the relevant office authority.

The role also requires support with setup and cleanup for meetings, internal events, or office functions when needed. Confidentiality must be upheld at all times, and company property must be treated with care and respect.


Daily Cleaning Duties

On a daily basis, the Office Cleaner will be responsible for sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and polishing floors throughout the office. Desks, chairs, windowsills, and office equipment must be dusted and wiped down to maintain cleanliness and hygiene. Waste bins must be emptied regularly, with liners replaced as required.

Restrooms must be cleaned and sanitised thoroughly, including replenishing essential supplies such as soap, toilet paper, and paper towels. High-touch surfaces such as door handles, light switches, and shared equipment must be disinfected consistently. Kitchen and canteen areas must be kept clean at all times, including washing dishes, wiping countertops, and ensuring a hygienic food preparation environment.


Maintenance and Upkeep

The Office Cleaner will monitor and maintain the cleanliness of all high-touch and shared surfaces across the office. Any damage or breakages to furniture, fixtures, or equipment must be reported immediately to the Office Administrator. The role also includes identifying potential safety hazards or facility repair needs and ensuring they are logged and communicated for prompt resolution.


Supplies and Inventory Management

An important aspect of the role involves tracking cleaning and bathroom supply levels to ensure that restocking is done timeously and efficiently. The Office Cleaner must keep a register of supplies used and report usage monthly or as required to support procurement planning. All cleaning materials and chemicals must be stored safely and in line with health and safety guidelines.


Support and Coordination

The Office Cleaner must follow daily and weekly cleaning schedules accurately and ensure tasks are completed with minimal disruption to staff and business operations. Confidential areas must be handled with discretion and respect for privacy. The role also requires cooperation with the Office Administrator and providing assistance during urgent cleaning tasks or office events when required.


Weekly and Periodic Cleaning Tasks

Weekly and periodic duties include cleaning windows, blinds, and glass partitions, deep-cleaning carpets and upholstery, polishing furniture and fixtures, and restocking cleaning materials. The Office Cleaner must proactively notify the Office Manager when supplies are running low to avoid shortages.


Minimum Requirements and Attributes

  • Grade 12 qualification (preferred)

  • Previous experience as an office cleaner or in a similar housekeeping role will be an advantage

  • Ability to work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision

  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and safe handling procedures

  • Good physical stamina and mobility, with the ability to lift light equipment and move between areas regularly

  • Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining high cleanliness standards

  • Basic written and verbal communication skills for reporting issues and logging supplies

  • Reliable, punctual, trustworthy, and professional in conduct
