About the Role

The Junior Auctioneer is responsible for conducting and supporting livestock auctions on behalf of BKB, while actively engaging with buyers and sellers to grow market share and strengthen client relationships. The role requires a balance of auctioneering expertise, marketing ability, administrative accuracy, and customer-focused service.

Key Responsibilities

Auctioneering and Event Delivery

The successful candidate will conduct auctioneering activities at livestock auctions, ensuring that events are well-managed, professional, and beneficial to buyers, sellers, and the organisation. This includes presenting livestock clearly and confidently, maintaining a strong auction rhythm, and ensuring smooth auction flow.

The role requires the ability to interpret and effectively convey catalogue information to support informed bidding and successful auction outcomes.


Customer Service and Relationship Management

A key focus of the role is building and maintaining strong relationships with sellers and buyers. The Junior Auctioneer will engage with clients before, during, and after auctions to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction, trust, and repeat business.

Providing professional, responsive service contributes directly to market growth and customer loyalty.


Livestock Marketing and Client Development

The position includes responsibility for marketing livestock, identifying potential buyers, and supporting marketing initiatives that promote auction success. Awareness of biosecurity protocols is essential to protect animal health and uphold industry standards.


Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in livestock marketing and auctioneering services

  • Proven experience in sourcing, presenting, and completing livestock auctions

  • Relevant agricultural or economic diploma or degree – recommended

  • Exceptional knowledge of livestock, including large and small stock breeds

  • Proven marketing exposure

  • Strong administrative experience, including debtors and creditors

  • Fully bilingual in Afrikaans and English (read, write, and speak)

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Willingness to travel
