Position Overview: Casual Cashier Job in Richards Bay
Dis-Chem is seeking a reliable and customer-focused Casual Cashier for its store in Richards Bay. This part-time retail job is ideal for candidates with cashier experience who are passionate about delivering excellent service.
You will be responsible for handling transactions efficiently, maintaining cash accuracy, and ensuring a smooth checkout experience for customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately process all customer transactions using the Dis-Chem system
- Handle payments including cash, cards, vouchers, and coupons
- Maintain proper cash flow and ensure secure handling of money
- Deliver excellent customer service and assist with queries
- Process returns, refunds, and exchanges when authorised
- Promote loyalty programmes (e.g., Discovery, Momentum, eBucks)
- Ensure all items are scanned and paid for before leaving the store
- Monitor and report suspicious behaviour
- Stay informed about store promotions and offers
- Adhere to company security and operational procedures
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Minimum 6 months’ cashier or till operation experience
- Computer literate (MS Office)
- Strong numerical skills
- Good command of English (written and spoken)
- Basic customer service experience
- Willingness to work retail hours (including weekends and holidays)
