Position Overview
The Lecturer ICT – Programming role is ideal for passionate educators in the Information Technology and software development space.
You will be responsible for delivering high-quality lectures, supporting students academically, and ensuring effective learning outcomes in programming-related modules. This role also involves identifying at-risk students and contributing to continuous academic improvement.

Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning Delivery
- Deliver lectures based on module-specific requirements and schedules
- Engage students in both theoretical and practical programming concepts
- Prepare students for assessments and examinations
- Ensure alignment with academic standards and module pacing
Student Support & Engagement
- Identify and support at-risk students
- Monitor student participation and academic progress
- Provide timely feedback through the Learning Management System (LMS)
- Assist with academic administration and student queries
Academic Development
- Develop and update assessments in collaboration with the Central Academic Team
- Analyse student performance and module results
- Participate in academic meetings and institutional initiatives
- Contribute to continuous improvement of teaching practices
Professional Development
- Complete required academic development interventions annually
- Stay updated with latest programming trends and digital learning tools
- Enhance personal academic and professional growth
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
- Honours Degree in Information Systems / Computer Science
OR - Honours Degree in a related IT field with programming up to third-year level
Experience
- 1–2 years of lecturing or tutoring experience in ICT or programming
Core Competencies
- Strong knowledge of South African higher education systems
- Understanding of teaching and learning methodologies
- Ability to support students academically and technically
- Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS)
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Adaptability in a dynamic academic environment
